Raising children is a rewarding yet challenging responsibility.

Lee’s Summit CARES offers several programs designed to help parents meet the challenges.

Love and Logic parenting classes are offered regularly. Through the Love and Logic program parents learn effective ways to respond to common discipline problems. They also learn how to empower their kids to make good choices, become responsible and prepare them for success in the real world. The Love and Logic program is offered in several formats. Parents chose a class depending on the age of their child(ren).

Drug Czar Awards $21 Million For Local Drug-Free Community Coalition Efforts

Gil Kerlikowske, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), today announced the awarding of $21 million in new Drug Free Communities (DFC) grants to 161 communities across the country.  Lee’s Summit CARES from Lee’s Summit, MO was one of the grant recipients, and will receive $125,000.00 in DFC grant funds to involve and engage their local communities to prevent and reduce alcohol and other drug abuse among youth.

“Efforts to keep youth in the Lee’s Summit R-7 school district drug free are critical to healthy communities. These communities include Lee’s Summit, Greenwood, Lake Winnebago, Lake Lotawana, and unincorporated areas of Jackson County as well as portions of Kansas City, Missouri.” said Roby Little, Director of Lee’s Summit CARES. “The Drug Free Communities Program recognizes the great potential of Lee’s Summit CARES to help save lives of youth.  This new funding will allow Lee’s Summit CARES to mobilize and organize their community to prevent and reduce substance abuse.”
