Exit is final piece in new half-diamond interchangeLocal citizens are invited to join representatives from the Missouri Department of Transportation for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the redesigned and completed Blue Parkway half-diamond interchange. This new traffic exchange is part of the much larger project to enhance the entire transportation system at I-470 and Route 50, which serves as the only major freeway-to-freeway junction in the southeastern metropolitan area. Crews will shift focus to complete the connector roads spanning Route 50 and 350 to join the two half-diamond interchanges at Pryor Road and Blue Parkway, creating what is commonly referred to as a Split-Diamond Interchange configuration. The higher-capacity split-diamond will better manage the traffic in and through Lee's Summit as the city continues to experience a surge in urban and commercial growth.
