Downtown Days event a success, year after year

City & Civic - Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street

(Note:  Looking for Video?  You'll find highlights from Downtown Days on StrotherWeb Live!)

It may all be fading into recent memory by now, but for three days last week, Downtown Lee's Summit was party central.

Held each year, Lee's Summit Downtown Days has grown into a finely tuned and executed event that brings back performers, vendors, and attendees year after year.

While many think that Downtown Days is the modern day version of the 1980's "Cole Younger Days", it turns out that is a common misconception.  Cole Younger Days was a Chamber of Commerce event.

"Old Tyme Days/Downtown Days is about as old as our organization (20 years)." said Sarah Shore, Assistant Director Of Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street.

"This was the 18th year, because we had to take 2 years off for construction. It started as a way to bring people downtown when our downtown was dilapidated. Leaders like Dale Hartley and Howard McCracken started it." said Shore.

Jeanine Rann, Executive Director of Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street, serves as chief cat herder for the event, and said she is extremely pleased with the results of this year's effort.
