Sunday evJames_Fanninening 11-22-09 shortly after 7:30 p.m. guards from Brice Detention (Holden Mo.) arrived at St. Luke’s East in Lee’s Summit for an unknown medical reason with 21 year old Lee’s Summit resident James M. Fannin.

Fannin was being held at the detention on stealing and receiving stolen property charges from Lee’s Summit as well as another agency’s warrant. Once at the hospital Fannin escaped from custody and ran south from the hospital. Fannin at the time of his escape was wearing an orange jumpsuit and chain around his waist which secured his wrists in cuffs. It is unknown how Fannin was able to escape from the guard’s custody.

Fannin was recaptured at 10:55 PM, still near St lukes.  Fannin will likely face additional charges after his brief brush with freedom.
