If traffic on our Facebook page is any indicator, Google+ is off to a strong start.

Last Monday we launched our new Facebook page, and on the same day got an invite to join in the Google+ beta test from a colleague.  After setting up our profile we saw that, true to Google's trickle down marketing style, we now had 150 invitations that we could give away

Being the shameless self promoters that we are, we immediately saw a way to earn some good social media karma, while at the same time growing our Facebook page.

On Tuesday we began testing a pay-per-click (PPC) Facebook ad, offering our Google invites to new fans.  At first we were certain that Facebook would never approve the ads.  After all, Google+ is seen as the first real threat to cross the social media giants path so far.  After some rewording, we finally got the campaign approved.

Once we got our ad launched, we started testing it in 30 minute spurts, here and there.

Finally, on Sunday, we turned on the ad and let it run, trying to capture the audience in our two biggest markets of the US and UK.

If the results of this brief campaign are an indicator of the interest you have in Google+, Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg is going to have to dig deeper into the creative recesses of his mind to keep up.  Running our ad for 7.5 minutes on Sunday netted us nearly 50 new followers, all seeking one thing, an invitation to Google plus.
